About
"Welcome to Clay City, WA" is a series of short films based on story ideas created by David Chris, screenwriter and Freelance Professional Photographer, Videographer and Drone Pilot living in the Pacific Northwest.
Episode Synopsis - In each episode, we follow the Main Character as they discover photos and information about the area that they live in, that they never knew existed. They then research and investigate each photo location, and the stories behind them, through a random collection of postcards one of them discovered inside a wooden box that was picked from a roadside yard sale stand. It’s not until later the Main Character recognizes an obvious pattern of unusual circumstances and activity related to not only the soil of the area, but also with the people of that area as well.
Historical Significance - Having a passion for the history of the Pacific Northwest, David, the creator of “Welcome to Clay City, WA”, has decided that each story line will be partly based on historical facts of the real city of Clay City, and the surrounding area. He feels that this will lend an air of authenticity to each story that he hopes will not only engage the viewer, but also have them anticipating the next episode or installment.
Filming Schedule - In keeping true with the whole ‘Independent Filmmaker’ theme of this project, and especially in the spirit of competitive film making and the creative schedules they have to keep, each episode of "Welcome to Clay City, WA" will have a strict filming schedule of just 48 hours, in two (2) consecutive days, along with an equally strict, and highly demanding editing schedule of just 24 hours, or less. The goal is to produce and deliver a new episode immediately after it's filmed and edited as this film's creator believes that will keep the story line current and something the viewers can relate to.
Production Budget - Also, in true ‘Independent Filmmaker’ theme, each episode of "Welcome to Clay City, WA" is produced on an extremely thin, and to be perfectly honest, an almost non-existent budget, purposefully making most, if not all, of the time and effort put into the production of this project purely voluntary.
David, the creator of "Welcome to Clay City, WA", wanted to resource the abundance of amazing local acting and creative talent from the area for this project, recognizing and understanding that, as David puts it, "Sometimes all someone needs is to be given a chance... this project is first and foremost about creating that opportunity for someone, especially the people of this area, to take advantage of this opportunity... they are key to this story line and they are what's going to make this project a success.'
